Vusal Babashov is a Ph.D. student in Management (with the specialization in Health Systems Operations Research) at the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Prof. Jonathan Patrick. His research interests broadly lie in the healthcare operations research. In particular, Vusal is interested in optimizing wait times and capacity at healthcare delivery facilities and designing optimal multi-tier drug formularies for public and private plans. He investigates optimal schedule and panel size in a multi-resource and multi-class clinical setting and uses advanced business analytics and operations research methodologies including  Markov Decision Processes, Approximate Dynamic Programming, Mixed Integer Programming, Multiple Criteria Decision Making and Health Economics.

Vusal is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) and Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS).
